Salary: 120-150k

A civil engineering firm is looking to add a Geotechnical Engineer to their team.


Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering
  • B.S/M.S. in civil engineering (geotechnical), M.S. preferred
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License. Licensure in the State of Maryland is required or should be obtainable within the first 3 months of employment through reciprocity.
  • Proficient in most of the following software suits: RocScience, Ensoft, gINT, GeoStudio, DeepEX and CAD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Physically capable of meeting physical demands of walking/climbing on construction sites, moving, handling testing equipment, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, etc.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Maryland and its contiguous states.
  • Strong analytical skills in the following areas: soil and rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, construction support, soil improvement techniques, and stormwater management

Day-to-day:

  • Prepare technical calculation packages.
  • Geotechnical report writing and technical reviews.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects meeting client and company requirements for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal and external clients to understand their needs.
  • Mentor and manage junior staff and project level geotechnical professionals through project performance.
  • Develop appropriate scopes and fees for geotechnical field and office tasks.
  • Coordinate and manage small to large size multi-disciplined projects with guidance and support from senior operations/technical staff.
  • Safely supervise field exploration, sampling, inspection, analysis, and technical activities.
  • Prepare or review geotechnical designs, reports, and calculations as needed on projects.
  • Work on teams with recognized experts in deep foundations and marine construction.
