Job Description

This Opportunity

Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical and Tunneling Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Consultant, Geotechnical Engineer for our Baltimore, MD office.

Your Impact
  • Perform/lead/coordinate field observation and special inspection of subsurface investigations in soils and rock
  • Perform geotechnical engineering design and analyses for bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground structures, and retaining walls under minimal supervision of senior engineers
  • Prepare/draft geotechnical memoranda, data reports and design reports
  • Perform/lead/coordinate field observation and special Inspection of geotechnical construction
  • Serve as task leaders in preparation of reports and Contract Documents
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and review/check their work
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and project partners
  • Assist to develop and coordinate geotechnical work in Rhode Island and surrounding areas
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical/Tunneling Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines (Structures, Civil, Environmental, and/or Planning)
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Experience in design and construction of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects
  • Experience in developing Contract Documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in work environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering preferred.
  • US PE registration or ability in acquiring in near future
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
