Director of Operations

A leader in the specialty chemicals space, is looking for a dynamic Director of Operations to lead their manufacturing team and contribute to our continued growth. The Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of our specialty chemicals manufacturing operations. This role demands a strategic leader with a deep understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, capable of driving efficiency, ensuring compliance, and leading a talented team to achieve operational excellence.


Director of Operations Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute operational strategies to align with company goals
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the operations team to drive high performance
  • Manage daily operations including production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management
  • Ensure production targets are met while adhering to quality and safety standards
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and boost productivity
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all products meet industry-specific quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve any quality-related issues
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the operations budget
  • Analyze financial performance and adjust strategies to maintain budgetary control
  • Work closely with R&D, Sales, Supply Chain, and other departments to synchronize operations with business objectives
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination across functions
  • Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the operations team
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing operations team
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to team members


Director of Operations Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Management, or a related field; Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in chemical manufacturing operations
  • At least 3-5 years in a leadership role with a proven track record in managing complex manufacturing processes
  • Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems and software (e.g., ERP, MES)
