Position Summary: The Senior Accounting Specialist supports the accounting team’s objectives by executing complex financial processes and preparing financial documents in accordance with advanced General Ledger accounting procedures and FEMA requirements, coordinating and engaging in project completion and problem resolution. This role contributes to Taurus Flood's overall success by actively leading and participating in the pursuit of continuous improvement while accurately, timely and consistently meeting and exceeding client needs.


Job Responsibilities/Essential Duties Include:

  • Prepare and balance monthly reconciliations for client accounts.
  • Prepare and upload monthly FEMA financial reconciliations and statements.
  • Prepare, approve, and post general ledger journal entries.
  • Project coordination and participation.
  • Calculate, process, and approve bank transfers.
  • Process stale check deposits.
  • Balance accounts in financial management software.
  • Prepare and submit FEMA Letters of Credit increase requests.
  • Handle internal and external mail.
  • Provide back-up support for Accounting Specialists.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance with 2 years of comparable experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Employ a positive approach to team and individual goals/objectives.
  • Strong ability to use experience, resources, analytical skills and professional judgment to make decisions and

problem-solve.

  • Ability to successfully multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programs, applications, and procedures.
  • Advanced proficiency with a variety of software applications. 


Physical Expectations:

  • Position requires the ability to hear and communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
  • Uses vision to view screens, create and review documents; requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
