Day-to-day HR responsibilities include:


  • Leading the firm's staffing, recruiting and retention strategy.
  • Overseeing the performance management and compensation processes for attorneys and staff
  • Supporting current and future Firm needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of our team, including team events
  • Working with our outsourced service provider to administer all aspects of firm payroll and benefits, including our 401(k) plans
  • Overseeing policy development, employee handbook updates, and distribution of these items to employees on an as-needed basis
  • Serving as an employee advocate and point of contact for human resources matters, practice development goals, and concerns
  • Working closely with the Office Manager and Director of Finance on back-office matters and leading firm initiatives
  • Developing innovative programs to enhance staff and attorney relations
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Assess training needs and oversee training programs for all employees.
  • Communicating with partners and management regarding HR issues and recommendations, including attending weekly management committee meetings


Desired Skills and Training:

  • Common technology and software skills (Microsoft including word, excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, electronic signatures, calendaring via outlook, setting up Zoom/Teams meetings, etc.)
  • Supervisory HR experience is required (HR director, manager, or similar); law firm or professional services experience is a plus
  • Experience with payroll processing, knowledge of applicable rules and regulations, experience using a PEO is a plus
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • People oriented with excellent communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback
  • Forward-thinking problem-solver with a “people first” attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company 
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations


Position Details:

  • Salary is variable based on experience.
  • Work environment: Given that you’ll be the point of contact for our people on all things “HR”, this is a (mostly) in-office position. We’ll need you to be in person at the Raleigh office four days a week.
