Summary Job Description: DC Soccer Club seeks a responsible individual to develop and implement a communications and marketing strategy to retain, attract and engage membership and coordinate the club’s marketing and communications efforts. The Associate Director acts to support the vision and mission of the Club and to promote positive family and customer relations.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate has excellent written communication skills and well-rounded experience communicating to various target audiences. They must have a background in the sport of soccer. They are strategic to plan and take initiative to shape and drive the club’s external messaging and have experience specific to sports communication to resonate with our target audience. They are creative to design and possess graphic design skills to produce marketing materials. The ideal candidate is able to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines. They are detail-oriented and organized to track the club’s communication and marketing efforts and provide up-to-date documentation to share with staff and club stakeholders. They can work collaboratively with different constituents to get excited about a common goal. The ideal candidate has familiarity with working in a youth soccer sports organization, an understanding of the Washington, D.C. urban landscape and is capable of working non-traditional hours.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

●       Plans, develops, schedules, executes and evaluates targeted, cross-channel digital communication and advertising campaigns, strategies, tools and tactics to meet DC Soccer Clubs Communications and Marketing objectives.

●       Oversees DCSC presence on social media, other relevant digital platforms, as well as traditional advertising and communication channels. Manages and maintains high-quality content, brand equity, display standards, and usage guidelines.

●       Continually evaluates marketing and advertising results and implements strategies to consistently improve.

●       Provides expertise on current and emerging digital trends, best practices and technologies. Investigates and understands the various digital platforms used by each of DCSC’s key target audiences, provides recommendations for integration into DCSC’s communication practices and ensures messages are customized, formatted and delivered optimally.

●       Analyzes, reviews and reports on the effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results. Works with staff to determine the allocation of funds to all market segments using digital and traditional advertising and promotional methods. 

●       Provides marketing and promotional support for seasonal and community -wide events and activities as needed. 

●       Acts as photographer/videographer for DCSC, shooting, editing and publishing photos and videos that can be used on the official DCSC website, social media sites, in print publications and advertising. Contributes to the DCSC database of pictures and videos for use in various promotional materials.

ATTENDANCE: Individuals in this position are expected to be generally available during normal business hours and may occasionally be asked to vary their schedule to meet DCSC requirements and events. May at times require evening and/or weekend activity and local travel. Staff is currently required to be in the office one day a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

●       Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, or related field

●       Three to five years of experience in the soccer industry , or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position

●       Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with diverse audiences, in a professional manner

●       Proficiency in standard office software applications and ability to learn new software as need arises

●       Working knowledge of graphic design and digital imaging software

●       Demonstrated effectiveness in organization and project management

●       Ability to prioritize requests accordingly

●       Ability to work independently with close attention to detail

●       Ability to effectively schedule time on task and maintain effective communications with DCSC staff while operating with a high degree of autonomy.


Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time position. You will receive standard benefits that the Club offers to other full-time Club employees, including paid holidays as designated annually by the Club, paid vacation, paid sick and safe leave, and other types of leave afforded to individuals at your level or in your position. Benefits include a monthly stipend on health care, and technology.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
