Summit Medical Group is recruiting a Director, Privacy and Compliance Officer reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. This position is responsible for maintaining and strengthening the company’s compliance-focused culture by strategically planning, designing, implementing, and monitoring organization-wide compliance with all applicable laws and regulations through structured audit programs. This position is based in Knoxville, or open to a remote position in Nashville or another city in Tennessee.


Responsibilities:

  • Privacy Officer
  • Investigate, document, and report privacy incidents and breaches
  • Conduct new hire and annual privacy and HIPAA trainings
  • Monitor privacy and HIPAA compliance and respond to complaints
  • Review and negotiate BAAs, monitor BA compliance
  • Review updates to state and federal regulations regarding privacy
  • Provide oversight for medical records request process
  • Conduct annual security risk assessment
  • Compliance Director
  • Update and maintain compliance policies and procedures
  • Respond to compliance-related complaints and monitor the compliance hotline
  • Develop and maintain compliance training for new hires, annual training, and delinquency follow up
  • Perform physical site inspections and new site inspections and training regarding compliance (posting of required notices and policies, etc.)
  • Perform exclusion checks for vendors, current employees, and new employees
  • Monitor compliance with company policy and state law regarding supervision of advanced practitioners, signing provider notes, and fraud and abuse
  • Oversee billing and coding audit team
  • Provides regular reports to the Compliance Committee and Board of Directors

Experience/Job Requirements:

  • CHC or CHPC certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in healthcare compliance.
  • Site visitation/travel to sites required.
  • Based in Knoxville, or open to a remote position in Nashville or another city in Tennessee.
