We offer flexible work arrangements with part-time and full-time schedules. The HR Coordinator will work directly with our clients and with Senior Smart HR Consultants. Smart HR’s client base includes a wide range of small to midsize companies & nonprofits in the Washington, DC metro area. This is a hybrid role where time would involve both working onsite at clients and working remotely. Smart HR offers the right candidate the ability to practice HR in a flexible environment that values high quality HR practices, independence, work/life balance & professional development.


Responsibilities:

  • Benefits – respond to employee benefits questions, support and manage annual open enrollment, implement benefits updates/changes as needed
  • HR system support – learn and manage info in client HR systems, which may include HR, applicant tracking, performance management and payroll systems
  • Compliance & policies – maintain up-to-date knowledge of current federal and state laws, update policies and employee handbook as needed
  • Other areas of HR support may include payroll support, performance management, employee records management, HR research, compensation, training/professional development and employee engagement initiatives.


Qualifications:


This position requires a proactive, independent individual with strong quantitative and conceptual skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and be able to function and succeed in many different environments.   • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years of HR & business experience. Business acumen is as important as HR knowledge to be successful in this position.
  • Ability to develop and manage all Human Resources functions
  • Ability to engage with people at all levels of the organization
  • Thorough understanding of human resources principles and practices, including employment laws and regulations.
  • Must possess consulting skills & maintain the highest level of professionalism in all interactions
  • Computer & math skills are required (especially MS Excel & Word).
  • Professional HR Certification is strongly desired (PHR or SPHR).
  • HR & business experience supporting small to midsize organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively both remote and in person.
