Overview

Global leader in the freight and transit space, is looking for a Production Manager for their foundry at their Salem, Virginia, location.


As the Production Manager, you will:

  • Be responsible to lead the foundry team at our facility in Salem, VA, and the success of the overall production process, which includes producing metal castings in our foundry, precision parts in the machine shop, and ultimately the assembly of equipment for freight and passenger rail vehicles.
  • Support with reporting to other business leaders on key metrics and updates as well as collaborative activities.
  • Work with the team to improve processes and to reduce waste
  • Direct foundry employees to manufacture products according to defined standards
  • Manage the production schedule for several product lines within the foundry
  • Organize, assign and monitor performance of work in the plant using approved procedures.
  • Perform personnel functions such as selection, training, coaching, and evaluation of hourly personnel currently due.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction activities on a daily basis with formal lean tools and methods.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferable within metal working
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean, or other advanced tools to drive continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in ERP Systems, preference in Oracle
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with Microsoft Excel
