3D Printing Core Engineer

Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a 3D Core Engineer job in Whitehall, MI for our client, a growing manufacturing company committed to producing quality products for their clients. The 3D Core Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the 3D core process using SLA Casting (Stereolithography) and other rapid prototyping methods, with a focus on the additive manufacturing aspects of the process as well as process controls. This is a hands-on position working in a lab setting, producing rapid prototypes from designs, managing the process, documenting the process through various stages, and managing the final process to fulfillment. Travel to a production facility for testing and production runs will be required. Candidates for this role must have three (3) or more years of additives (SLA) experience and two (2) years in manufacturing production experience. Our client offers a salary based on experience, an annual bonus, and excellent benefits that start on day one. Relocation assistance is available for this position.


Responsibilities for the 3D Core Engineer Job in Whitehall, MI include:

- Collaborating with casting facilities located out of state on production operations to develop robust processes and enhancements for new and existing programs.

- Working with R&D colleagues on new product development projects, both in Core Prototyping and Rapid Tooling departments where additive manufacturing is utilized.

- Running trials, characterizing, and documenting additive manufacturing processes within the lab.

- Assisting in setting New Product Introduction (NPI) production manufacturing readiness targets on new projects.

- Creating and leveraging best practices/standards, both as an individual effort and within a team environment.

- Evaluating and implementing new methods and processes to positively affect yields and part quality levels. Developing and applying processing methods and inspections.


Qualifications:

- A minimum of 3 years of production experience working in an additive manufacturing environment and 2 years in manufacturing production.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Materials Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Chemical, or Aerospace.

- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status; ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

- Fluency with CAD software, preferably with Siemens NX.

- Able to travel out of state a few times a year for testing and production runs.

- Experience in additive manufacturing of resins in a production environment with three (3) or more years of additive industry experience is a plus.

- Experience in NPI, new process control development, and product start-ups.

- Plastic injection molding experience is a plus.

- Experience with developing and applying new manufacturing processes and/or inspection methods.

- Experience in advanced inspection methods, such as structured light inspection or CT inspection.

- Project management experience is a plus.

- Proven problem-solving skills using sound fundamentals as well as a history of trials/execution of improvements.
