Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Lead Continuous Improvement Engineer, this position is integral to advancing manufacturing enhancement projects within the Continuous Improvement Organization. Acting as the primary facilitator, the focus is on improving on-time delivery, productivity, quality, cost-effectiveness, safety, and environmental stewardship. While direct supervision is not part of this role, it involves close cooperation with Operations Supervisors, Area Leads, and Plant Managers.

This role offers a shift schedule for either 2nd or 3rd Shift.

Located near a scenic area, this position is surrounded by vibrant communities.

Core Focus Areas

  • Assist in minimizing executional waste during the 2nd or 3rd shift.
  • Develop a systematic methodology with detailed procedures for managing high-volume processing equipment.
  • Conduct time analysis across various operations to identify areas for improvement.
  • Engage in on-site observations, working with manufacturing personnel to document existing and desired conditions, aiming to eliminate non-value-added activities and reduce waste.
  • Contribute to the execution of continuous improvement initiatives through the Howmet Business System, applying Lean principles to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to implement enhancements that drive operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Participate in Kaizen events, problem-solving sessions, and rapid improvement initiatives, ensuring the sustainability of improvements achieved.
  • Perform additional assigned tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, and high energy.
  • Show a willingness to engage with employees on the manufacturing floor.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and teamwork-oriented mindset.
  • Possess strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills.
  • Be open to working either the 2nd or 3rd shift.
  • Have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, with eligibility verification required at the time of hiring. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Continuous Improvement, or Supply Chain Management is preferred, particularly in Industrial Engineering.
  • Exceptional skills in Excel, including spreadsheet creation, macros, and data analysis are advantageous.
