NATIONAL PORK PRODUCES COUNCIL (NPPC)
Job Title: Director of Industry Resource Development
Reports to: Vice President, Resource Development
Summary: Director serving as primary point of contact for Pork Alliance Membership. Responsibilities will include a high level of interaction with NPPC Program areas to support interface with Pork Alliance Membership and other allied industry companies. Activities include membership sales and retention, and the selling of sponsorships, and other business development opportunities. Position requires frequent communication and support of Pork Alliance Members and their contacts, staff, as well as other audiences as necessary. This position requires knowledge of allied industry companies in addition to knowledge of NPPC/Board of Director policies and practices. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary point of general contact for Pork Alliance Membership companies and their contacts.
- Coordinate as necessary and support NPPC staff interactions with Pork Alliance Membership to achieve programing needs of the organization.
- Plan and execute Pork Alliance meetings, may commit association funds according to an approved and prescribed budget.
- When Pork Alliance Members are involved, assist with the planning and execution of the meeting.
- Sales, retention, recruitment, and servicing of Pork Alliance Membership companies and contacts
- Sales, development and coordination of the execution of sponsorships for NPPC
- Sales, development and coordination of the execution of sponsorships for World Pork Expo onsite and offsite events
- Assist with business development of other/new revenue streams for NPPC
- Direct the execution of the Pork PAC auction at annual meeting (Forum) and Pork Action Group meeting, assist with sales and coordination of other PAC functions and activities.
- Support NPPC recruitment of grassroots, committee, and member involvement in NPPC
- Support other organizational development activities as directed
- Works closely with other resource development staff as well as accounting, communications, grassroots, and other essential departments
- Direct, assist, and coordinate as directed by supervisor with coworkers on a number of internal and external projects. Being an effective team leader and reliable teammate is a must.
- Assists with business development projects
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively without direct supervision. Have written and oral communication skills. Needs to be able to work well with others, be flexible and be open to change. Need good organizational skills and able to handle several projects at one time with the ability to make sound decisions, as job responsibilities require. Must possess the ability to coordinate and plan multiple meetings and projects simultaneously. Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database operations.
Travel: Requires travel (50%) to meet with members, prospects, attend industry meetings, and represent NPPC at other functions as directed by supervisor. Individual must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and current passport.
Education and/or Experience: Equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Agriculture Business, Business Administration, Marketing, or related applicable degree is required. Related experience will also be accepted. Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and/or marketing is required.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions - Requires light physical effort such as stooping and bending, and occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 50 pounds).
Location: The position is based out of NPPC Urbandale, IA office.
