Division Credit Manager

SUMMARY:

The Division Credit Manager is responsible for safeguarding CED’s assets through the effective administration of the company’s credit policies and procedures. This role supports and advises CED Managers and credit office staff while ensuring excellent service for customers. The Division Credit Manager will oversee credit approvals, monitor customer accounts, manage collections, and ensure proper cash management. This position requires strong leadership, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

REPORTS TO: Region Credit Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years Commercial credit experience, preferably in the wholesale distribution industry

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

• Ability to travel overnight

• Four-year college degree in a business-related field or comparable experience in commercial credit management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Customer service skills for both internal employees and external customers

• Ability to analyze financial statements

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

• Leadership, management, communication, and team-building skills

• Ability to accomplish goals independently

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Professional office environment, may require sitting for extended periods

• Ability to travel overnight as needed

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Credit Management:

• Approve new customers and construction job accounts using credit investigations and financial analysis

• Continuously monitor existing customer accounts and update credit files as needed

• Assist CED Managers in maximizing sales while minimizing risk

• Arrange secondary protection of assets

• Perform monthly accounts receivable reviews and visits with all CED locations within territory, selected customers, and managers

• Recruit, hire, and train credit office staff

• Manage the office lease, fixed assets, and expense control

• Understand and administer CED’s Credit Policies and Procedures

Collections Management:

• Coordinate and supervise all collections for the profit centers within established policies and legal boundaries

• Delegate collection activities to credit analysts, collectors, or Credit Manager Trainees

• Develop and implement strategies for past due accounts to facilitate optimal collection and asset security

• Restrict sales as necessary to minimize risk of loss

• Establish, perfect, and prosecute all secondary protection/collection devices (e.g., lien and bond rights, personal guarantees, UCCs)

• Secure and evaluate local counsel and collection agencies for legal services and collections

• Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts receivable reports to management as documented

Cash Management:

• Ensure all funds paid to CED are remitted to the Division Credit office and deposited daily in CED’s bank account

• Ensure all funds are applied daily to customer accounts daily per policies and procedures

• Communicate all deductions and accounts receivable disputes to CED Managers and provide monthly reports summarizing outstanding disputes

• Pursue resolution to disputed accounts receivable with CED Managers on a monthly basis

• Work with staff to resolve bank account reconciliations and fund transfers

• Provide CED locations with check guaranty services for cash and COD sales
