Job Summary

The Inside Business Development Representative is responsible for sourcing and developing leads into long-term customer relationships. Once a relationship is established, this role helps onboard new accounts and collaborates with the Account Management and Operations teams to ensure customer retention, growth, and diversification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically source leads aligned with company goals and objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with potential clients to establish premium partnerships.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue and profit objectives set by leadership.
  • Utilize sales strategies to foster stable and lasting customer partnerships.
  • Participate in individual account reviews, sharing successes and obstacles with leadership.
  • Collaborate with logistics professionals to build customer trust and ensure smooth business execution.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Transportation Management System, including freight data and load plans.
  • Update the CRM with engagement notes and call cycles regularly.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Address customer trends and potential issues, providing timely updates and educational insights.
  • Establish both transactional and contractual rates across various modes and service offerings in partnership with leadership.
  • Proactively identify and solve problems, positioning yourself as an expert logistics provider.
  • Participate in special projects and other assigned duties as required.

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of sales experience, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and follow up consistently.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting business data and writing professional correspondence.
  • Availability to work after hours or weekends, depending on customer demands or seasonal needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM and BI systems is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to connect with team members, customers, and stakeholders on a personal level, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Capability to learn and adapt to new software and systems.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This role operates in a traditional office environment.
  • Regularly requires talking and hearing; frequently involves standing, walking, and using hands and arms to handle tasks.
  • Occasionally required to lift objects up to 20 pounds.
