JGPR is seeking a Senior PR Associate (Senior Account Executive equiv.) to join our fast-growing team working with municipal agencies, public schools, and police/fire/ems/emergency management agencies nationwide.


There is a significant need for candidates who have the following skills and can demonstrate past successes in these areas:


1. Developing error-free work including PR campaigns, media pitch plans, written copy and publicity/comms strategy


2. Managing and growing relationships and DRIVING relationships with clients -- ensuring that our clients are always receiving value from their JGPR contract


Position Summary: Senior Public Relations Associates perform high-level work and are looked upon as leaders on a public relations team. As tenured professionals, Senior Public Relations Associates take on leadership roles on their teams and may be asked to delegate work on a project or campaign.


Senior Public Relations Associates are known for producing error-free, high-quality copy and layout/design projects. They may also possess specialized skills including photography, project management, videography, graphic design or other creative or technical skills that make them particularly valuable to their team.  They also possess a superior knowledge of writing style, AP style and client industry standards.


A Senior Public Relations Associate builds and maintains close, trusting client relationships.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Leads others on a public relations team
  • Writes superior copy
  • Line editing and copyediting 
  • Impactful story placement and pitching
  • Attends, photographs, and writes releases for client events as needed
  • Assists Account Director and other staff with high-level projects and crises
  • Creates and implements original and innovative products, services, and campaigns
  • Generates new ideas and brings them to fruition as repeatable companywide
  • Produces award-winning work
  • Proactively works to retain existing clients
  • Ensures client satisfaction and client retention
  • Manages and creates client communications strategy
  • Working as a senior member of a team, manages tasks, projects, and campaigns for clients
  • Attends trade shows and proactively contributes to their success
  • Maintains strong media profile at the local, state, and, national level that reflects well on the company and its clients
  • Manages others and leads, while working within a JIC or chain of command
  • Maintains relationships with key external stakeholders including reporters, editors and  management
  • Maintains strong regional and national media relations skills with high-profile examples of successful media campaigns
  • Creates and maintains a significant company-boosting social media presence
  • Attends staff and team meetings
  • Updates company and client websites
  • Must be available to assist with larger breaking news stories and attend after-hours meetings/briefings, when necessary
  • Must be part of the company’s on-call rotation

 

Qualifications:

 

This position is generally considered a step above Public Relations Associate. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 5-10 years of experience in public relations and/or 2-3 years of experience in public relations when coming from a journalism, marketing, business, or non-PR career with at least 7 years of experience in the other field. Prior completion of superior training regimen including FBI LEEDA Master and/or FEMA APIO/MPIO looked upon very favorably, as such training will be expected in the first year of employment.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and public speaking skills
  • Strong ability to foster and manage client relationships with a focus on client retention
  • Superior crisis management skills and repeated successful crisis management case studies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia skills such as graphic design, layout, photography, etc.
