Reports To: Controller / Accounting Manager

The role:
The Senior Accountant II is a key contributor in the managing and executing of accounting functions, including financial reporting, general ledger management, and compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to work independently and lead projects. The Senior Accountant II will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and supporting the company’s financial goals. This position will report to the Financial Controller.

This is a full-time position with hybrid schedule based in Canton, MA, with consideration to remote applicants as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Maintenance:
    1. Assist in the management of the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes. Ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP within reporting deadlines.
    2. Maintain general ledger accounts with regular updates and reviews.
    3. Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
    4. Research variances to expectations and perform accounting error root cause analysis.
    5. Determine and records various expense accruals.
    6. Escalate any material risk to the financial statements to the appropriate leaders.

  • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable:
    1. Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable (AP) process in conjunction with AP Accounting Functional Leads and Accounting Manager, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports.
    2. Offers guidance to accounts payable and accounts receivable staff.
    3. Implement and maintain best practices for AP processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
    4. Monitor and manage expected cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for AP, escalate funding requirement needs to appropriate leaders.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    1. Assist in the creation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures manuals and other documentation as needed.
    2. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
    3. Assist in the research and processing of compliance documentation with local, state, and federal tax regulations, i.e. business licenses, certificate of insurance, annual reports, sales tax, and census data.

  • Process Improvement:
    1. Lead and assist in ad hoc projects designed to improve processes within the accounting department.
    2. Seeks ways to use technology and improve processes for areas of responsibility.
    3. Collaborate with IT, consultants, and other departments to enhance system functionality.
    4. Research and resolve discrepancies related to accounting data integrations and sync issues.

  • Team Collaboration:
    1. Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement process improvements to provide better service to our internal and external customers.
    2. Seek to create buy-in and build consensus among stakeholders.

  • Professional Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification a plus but not required.
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a senior accounting role.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Tipalti, Ramp) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Demonstrate experience in managing multiply tasks and projects while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
