Summary:
A large defense client in the El Segundo, CA is looking for three Principal Lead Systems Engineers to join their team. These Lead Engineers will be responsible for managing teams focused on early-stage technology development, specifically for digital signal processing. Duties include creating and flowing down requirements, creating specs for interfaces, architecting systems, and leading integrations for space systems/subsystems.
Responsibilities include:
- Defining requirements and capabilities in an agile model-based engineering environment.
- Partnering with internal teams to understand the current state and future goals for testing, verification and validation
- Identify, coordinate and communicate requirements, functional threads and interfaces for incorporation into system architecture, modeling environment and system physical design
- Oversee development of system electronics and the integration of those electronics into other systems
- Oversee integration technologies under development with larger system concept of operations and determine impacts to interfaces, integration techniques, manufacturability and integrated system testing.
- Identify, innovate and oversee development and maintenance of new tools and processes to support this work scope
- Support and lead customer engagement for technologies under research & development
- Define functional architecture and modeling needs and coordinate efforts with functional architecture and modeling/simulation teams to meet end item deliverable test, verification and validation schedules.
Desired skills and experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in STEM and 14+ years of engineering experience
- Experience with digital signal processing technologies such as SERDES, RS-422, CMOS
- Experience leading engineers in FPGA/ASIC development
- Experience reviewing use cases, writing technical requirements, and taking them down to the basic level
- Proven experience with early stage technology development (left side of the "v-model"), and focusing on technology readiness level
- Experience driving project schedules and identifying and mitigating risks
- Active TS/SCI clearance
Compensation:
$200k-250k
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
