We are currently looking to hire a Project Control Specialist to join our client, a rapidly growing owner-operator in the renewable energy sector. The position is based in Canonsburg, PA, on a hybrid basis and offers relocation support. This is a new opportunity and key to the company, as it will support the Finance, Project Execution, and Development teams by providing insights on capital projects through cost control, forecasting, project management, and scheduling.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Cost Control, Planning, and Scheduling experience in a related industry. Relocation will be provided if required.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing project budgets and cost control activities, including budgeting, scheduling, change management, estimating, progress tracking, and forecasting.
  • Set up project budgets and baselines, and report any variances.
  • Aid in developing detailed project schedules, leveraging input and understanding from team members.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of project schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Develop customized schedule reports to meet project needs.
  • Monitor project progress and analyze bottlenecks, trends, and critical paths.
  • Monitor project deliverables and track physical percent completion.
  • Oversee and maintain Plan, Actual, and Forecast curves.
  • Identify project risks, communicate them effectively, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Prepare presentations on project status, highlighting key accomplishments, risks, and changes.
  • Create custom project reports as needed to facilitate discussions.


Cost Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate project cost data and maintain supporting documentation within the control systems.
  • Ensure effective change control procedures throughout all project stages.
  • Create and maintain detailed cash flow and commitment flow records during the project lifecycle.
  • Review and confirm the contractual compliance of project invoices.
  • Assist the project manager with the financial wrap-up of projects.
  • Upon project completion, document and archive historical cost information and to improve future projects.


To be successful in the role you will need an undergraduate degree in a related field along with relevant experience in planning & scheduling experience and cost control within a related industry – renewable energy preferred. A knowledge within estimating, progress management and forecasting/reporting is required.
