Starpath Robotics’s mission is to make life multiplanetary and preserve the light of human consciousness. We build propellant production plants for the Moon and Mars to refuel spacecraft. As an Electrical Engineer, you would be responsible for the design & build of power, electromechanical, and control systems on spacefaring hardware. You will drive your system through the prototype phase into lunar surface operations.

Responsibilities

  • High ownership of electrical hardware from concept through operation on the lunar surface.
  • Define & justify electrical system requirements, conduct trade space analysis, and document decisions.
  • Design & build electronics for motion control, high voltage power management, and radio communication.
  • Design test setups and perform hardware validation using both benchtop and environmental testing methodologies
  • Interface with adjacent teams to integrate hardware into corresponding mechanical subsystems, with an emphasis on ease of manufacturing and debugging
  • Determine qualification and acceptance testing criteria with published testing standards (ie. NASA SMC-S-016) in mind


Required Qualifications

  • A strong desire to help permanently establish humanity off-Earth
  • Evidence of exceptional engineering ability
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, OR demonstrated excellence at design & development of electrical systems via significant professional experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing & building electronics
  • Outstanding communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with design of avionics hardware for space applications
  • Experience with hardening electronic systems against radiation-induced failure modes
  • Experience in developing low BOM cost electronics for deep space applications, including knowledge of techniques for low cost component selection
  • Experience in up-screening low-cost components for space applications
  • Desire and capability to build test support hardware (custom harnessing, fixtures, etc.) and facilitate test campaigns
  • Desire and capability to develop hardware on rapid timelines & demonstrate extreme ownership
  • High levels of personal agency & productivity


Position Details

  • Location: Los Angeles - Hawthorne
  • PTO & health/dental/vision coverage included
  • Compensation includes an equity package


Pay Range:

  • Electrical Engineer I: $80-$110k/yr
  • Electrical Engineer II: $100-$130k/yr
  • Senior Electrical Engineer: $120-$160k/yr


Additional Requirements

  • Willing to work extended hours as needed
