SENIOR ELECTRICAL INTEGRATION & TEST ENGINEER (STARSHIELD)

The role of Electrical Integration and Test Engineers is pivotal, as they must possess a comprehensive understanding of all satellite systems. This team requires engineers who are well-versed in design, schematics, operations, manufacturing, testing, and flight dynamics. A successful candidate will exhibit strong engineering intuition and critical thinking skills, thriving in environments with ambiguous requirements and minimal supervision. These engineers are tasked with addressing challenges across various work centers and are frequently engaged in new, cross-departmental development initiatives. The primary objective of the Integration and Test team is to guarantee that satellites fulfill their intended missions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the integration build process and testing operations
  • Assess proposed designs for manufacturability and integration feasibility
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to enhance manufacturing and automation processes
  • Develop and refine assembly procedures based on insights gained
  • Facilitate the daily execution of vehicle integration and testing workflows
  • Analyze non-conformances to identify root causes and implement actionable improvements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of design and/or hands-on manufacturing experience (internships, collegiate engineering projects, or professional industry experience may be considered)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Willingness to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages
  • Experience with the integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and structural systems
  • Familiarity with avionics systems integration
  • Experience in documentation and configuration management
  • Capability to write test plans and procedures, providing go/no-go assessments and rationale
  • Background in a production environment
  • Demonstrated engineering intuition and critical thinking, with comfort in ambiguous situations

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel to other SpaceX locations may be necessary, up to 10%
  • Must be prepared to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet critical deadlines
  • This position is highly hands-on, requiring the ability to be on one's feet for extended periods
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders, stooping, bending, crawling, and working in confined spaces
  • An active clearance may allow participation in sensitive SpaceX missions, subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Senior: $130,000 - $180,000 per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis, considering job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Those with an active clearance will receive a 10% differential, up to an additional $15,000 annually, once officially briefed into a classified program.

Base salary is only one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also qualify for long-term incentives, including company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks are also included. You will accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays each year. Exempt employees are entitled to 5 days of sick leave annually.
