Hawthorne, California, United States SpaceX Full time

SpaceX was established with the vision that a future where humanity explores the cosmos is significantly more thrilling than one where we remain confined to Earth. Currently, SpaceX is advancing the technologies necessary to realize this vision, with the ultimate aim of supporting human life on Mars.

SENIOR ELECTRICAL INTEGRATION & TEST ENGINEER (STARSHIELD)

The role of Electrical Integration and Test Engineers involves a comprehensive understanding of all systems present on the satellite. Professionals in this team must possess a solid grasp of design principles, schematics, operational processes, manufacturing techniques, testing protocols, and flight dynamics. A successful candidate in this position will exhibit strong engineering intuition and critical analytical skills, thriving in environments with ambiguous requirements and minimal supervision. By leveraging these competencies, engineers confront challenges across diverse work centers within the organization, frequently engaging in new, cross-departmental development initiatives. The primary objective of the Integration and Test team is to guarantee that satellites fulfill their intended missions.

  • Assess proposed designs for manufacturability and integration feasibility
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to enhance manufacturing and automation processes
  • Develop and improve assembly procedures based on insights gained
  • Facilitate the daily execution of vehicle integration and testing workflows
  • Analyze non-conformances to identify root causes and implement actionable improvements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in design and/or hands-on manufacturing (consideration may be given to internships, collegiate engineering projects, or relevant professional experience)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages
  • Experience with the integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and/or structural systems
  • Familiarity with avionics systems integration
  • Experience in documentation and configuration management
  • Ability to write test plans and procedures, providing go/no-go judgments and rationale
  • Background in a production environment
  • Demonstrated engineering intuition, critical thinking, and comfort with ambiguity

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel to other SpaceX locations may be necessary, up to 10%
  • Must be prepared to work extended hours and/or weekends as required to meet critical deadlines
  • This position is highly hands-on and requires the ability to be on one's feet for extended periods, up to 4 hours at a time
  • Frequent collaboration with technicians necessitates the ability to climb ladders, stoop, bend, crawl, and work in confined spaces
  • An active clearance may provide opportunities to engage in sensitive SpaceX missions; if applicable, candidates will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary range:
Senior: $130,000 - $180,000 per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
