Job Opportunity Overview
Job Summary: The Sports Activity Instructor plays a key role in delivering recreational athletic and fitness workshops to engage participants, enabling them to acquire new skills and knowledge in sports and fitness.
Supervisor: Program Director at Beacon MS 45
Location: Bronx, NY
Hours: Up to 18 Hours/week; Non-Exempt, 3:00-6:30pm, Monday-Friday (1 Saturday a month)
Compensation: $19/hr - $25/hr
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop, organize, and lead activities and workshops related to Sports and fitness.
- Create and submit lesson plans ahead of time.
- Engage participants through various activities.
- Mentor and coach youth ranging from 1st to 12th grade.
- Instruct participants on basic fitness and correct form techniques.
- Facilitate team sports activities or similar team building exercises.
- Organize and execute a final sports or fitness event or project.
- Maintain daily attendance records.
- Coordinate the setup, operation, and cleanup of activities, as well as manage inventory and equipment.
- Supervise a small group of leaders.
- Provide guidance and delegate tasks to other leaders in the area of Sports and fitness.
- Participate in all team meetings and training sessions.
- Assist program participants in decision-making and engaging in activities.
- High School diploma required; Candidates with an Associate/Bachelor's degree in sports are encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience or expertise in sports and fitness instruction.
- Strong group facilitation skills.
- Effective communication abilities and a team-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated commitment to a strength-based or youth development approach.
