Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Science Instructor to join our team at BronxCare Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating psychosocial assessments and referrals for the adolescent unit, leading inpatient rounds, and participating in interdisciplinary psychosocial rounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees.
  • Contribute to and participate in Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department.
  • Coordinate psychosocial assessments and referrals for the adolescent unit.
  • Lead inpatient rounds on the adolescent unit twice a week, covering psychosocial issues relevant to adolescents.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary psychosocial rounds with Attending Physician, Clinical Social Worker, Residents assigned to the service, and Chief Resident in Pediatrics.
  • Consult with residents and attending physicians on issues such as substance abuse, difficult doctor-patient relationships, and death and dying.
  • Lead inpatient rounds once a week on a didactic topic such as performing a mental status examination, using the 5-axis diagnostic system, and treatment modalities for depression disorder.
  • Participate in interviewing resident applicants during interview season.
  • Attend weekly faculty meetings.
  • Coordinate Senior Seminar one hour a week for 2nd and 3rd-year residents, covering a wide range of psychosocial topics.
  • Participate in resident evaluations and provide remediation when necessary, especially with psychosocial skills.
  • Videotape residents in clinic and lead videotape review sessions.
Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching and training preferred.
  • Licensed Certified Social Worker.
  • Masters in Social Work.
  • Doctorate in Psychology.
