Primary Function:

The Evisceration Associate performs tasks to clean and eviscerate (remove the organs of) recently slaughtered turkeys to prepare for secondary and further processing.

Essential Duties, Functions & Responsibilities

  • Perform varying manual, repetitive tasks to remove organs and parts from slaughtered turkeys
  • Perform repetitive tasks with assistance of tools, such as knives and scissors, to remove organs and parts from slaughtered turkeys
  • Train to proficiency to rotate through jobs and perform multiple tasks within the department
  • Perform any job in the department at the supervisor's discretion
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics

  • Ability to follow all facility rules, regulations, and guidelines, including but not limited to attendance policy, safety policies, USDA regulations, and GMPs
  • Ability to learn assigned tasks as required and meet performance specifications Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions

  • Assigned job duties may change and vary day-to-day depending upon production needs
  • Department temperature fluctuates according to season (i.e., colder in winter, warmer in summer)
  • Damp-to-wet conditions in the area
  • Loud/noisy environment (86 – 99 dB)
  • Exposure to raw meat and associated parts, including but not limited to organs, blood, and feces
Physical Requirements

  • Standing for up to four (4) hours at a time (time between breaks, and then from last break until end of shift)
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to sixty (60) pounds
  • Ability to grip, grasp, and lift repetitively through the course of the workday
  • Ability to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene equipment, including but not limited to bump cap/hard hat, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, smock, and gloves
Minimum Qualifications

  • No minimum education requirement
  • No previous work experience required
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old
  • Must be eligible to work legally in the United States
