HNTB is currently seeking to hire a senior traffic project engineer in their Orange County or Ontario office.The target applicant will have eight to fifteen years of experience in traffic engineering and operations modeling, but slightly more or less experience is acceptable.
The candidate will support our Southern California traffic staff in a variety of traffic operational analysis and traffic design tasks, including performing in a traffic task lead role.
Project work will include modeling, data analysis, design, estimating, specifications, and report writing on freeway corridor, arterial, and transit projects at various stages of development (ranging from the planning phase through construction).
Typical deliverable work includes feasibility studies, technical studies in support of environmental documents, and transportation management plans (TMPs).In addition, the candidate will also assist with traffic design work for plans, specification, and estimate (PS&E) packages such as signing/striping, traffic signal, stage construction, detour plans, and traffic handling plans.
Communications skills (verbal and written) and ability to work with remote teams are very important.Someone who is familiar with the Caltrans project development process, standard plans, standard specifications, directives, and policies and has Southern California experience on planning and design projects (as opposed to research) is particularly desirable.
The candidate will be tasked to assist in mentoring and development of a growing junior traffic group as well as project workplan preparations and general staff management activities.
What You'll Do:
Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider broad range of engineering solutions.
Responsible for the discipline-specific planning, work distribution, and leadership and adherence to the schedule, and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work within the technical discipline.Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projectsPerforms other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, orMaster's degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experienceWhat You'll Bring:Shows excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multiple discipline projects.
