WSP is searching for an Assistant VP, Archaeologist for our office in Kansas City, Missouri. Other locations like Louisville, KY will also be considered. Join our Heritage & Cultural Resources, Earth & Environment Team to work on challenging projects and be part of a dynamic organization that meets clients' needs.

The Kansas City office, located in the historic River Market area, houses over 80 employees who collaborate on projects across multiple business lines. This office is also home to one of WSP's nationally recognized Heritage Resource laboratories, supporting collections management efforts.

Your Impact

  • Supervise data collection efforts to identify and compile artifacts.
  • Ensure proper use of mapping tools for project locations.
  • Lead artifact excavation and analysis.
  • Analyze literature and other sources to assess cultural resources impact.
  • Prepare cultural resource survey reports and impact assessments.
  • Conduct environmental site assessments.
  • Create visualizations for data interpretation.
  • Monitor project teams and budgets.
  • Assist in environmental permit applications.
  • Mentor staff and support professional growth.
  • Remain updated on archaeological methods.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of post-education experience in archaeological fieldwork.
  • Expertise in research techniques and archaeology.
  • Knowledge of preservation regulations.
  • Experience in environmental permitting.
  • Ability to work independently and provide leadership.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in technical and business writing.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Track record of upholding workplace safety.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Licensure/certification in relevant areas.
  • Health & Safety Training desirable.
  • First Aid and CPR training desired.
