Position is located in the Sacramento (Out-of-State Western States) Office.


Under the general direction of the Business Taxes Administrator II (BTA II), the Business Taxes Administrator I (BTA I) is responsible for the statewide audit and compliance administrative functions for the Out-of-State Office.

The BTA I manages and controls all day-to-day operational functions of the Registration, Collections, California Nexus, and the Voluntary Disclosure Programs.

The BTA I directs staff to conduct collection and registration investigations, analyze and evaluate audit leads for the California Nexus and Voluntary Disclosure Programs.

The BTA I integrates and applies practices, policies and procedures across both compliance and audit functions. The BTA I has the responsibility to plan, direct, and organize the workflow within all the programs.

The BTA I monitors the progress of many compliance tasks with varying due dates and urgency to ensure their timely completion.

The BTA I is also responsible for motivating, training and developing staff and monitor employee performance.


This limited term position may be extended up to twenty-four (24) months if workload is extended or become permanent if workload becomes permanent.


Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for full or part-time telework for eligible candidates residing in California.
