Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Board Member and with guidance from the Deputy to Board Member, the incumbent will serve as an advisor on legal matters pertaining to the California State Board of Equalization (BOE) and assists the Board Member in carrying out the constitutional responsibilities in administering, formulating, coordinating, and communicating tax programs and the application of California tax laws. Assist with the legal work on the legal and legislative matters related to the Board Member's constitutional duties and the BOE programs.

This recruitment has been posted for more vacancies than currently exist as it may be used to fill additional identical vacancies which occur within 180 days of the closing date of this bulletin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to the Board Member and Deputy to Board Member on tax-related matters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tax policies and programs.
  • Conduct research and analysis on tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to the Board Member and Deputy to Board Member.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Working Conditions
  • Position is located in a high-rise building.
  • Telework is available fifty percent (50%) of the time.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time.
  • Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
