Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Chief Counsel, the Attorney III performs complex research and analysis to provide written opinions regarding public contracting, procurement laws, disclosure, and procedures for the Board of Equalization staff and management. This includes, but is not limited to, requiring knowledge, analysis, and application of the California Public Contract Code, Government Code, Public Records Act, Information Practices Act, Political Reform Act, and Administrative Laws and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal services to the Board and Board staff in relation to essential program functions of the agency, including Property Taxes, Tax on Insurers, and Alcoholic Beverage Tax.
  • Conduct research and analysis to provide written opinions on public contracting, procurement laws, disclosure, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure consistency and accuracy in legal interpretations.
Working Conditions

This is a standard office environment position that requires being in a stationary position for extended periods of time. The position also requires daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.

Special Requirements
  • This employer participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Travel required five percent (5%) of the time.
  • Position requires employee to have and maintain a valid California State Bar License Membership.
