RTX Technology Research Center's Physical Sciences Department is currently on the lookout for a creative physical metallurgist well-versed in high-temperature metals, including high entropy alloys (HEAs), refractory alloys, and nickel-based superalloys. In this role, you will work alongside dynamic teams focused on developing innovative materials and manufacturing technologies for aerospace and defense applications. The main responsibilities include supporting the expansion of high entropy alloys as a game-changing technology, marketing new concepts, obtaining research funding, and creating intellectual property related to high-temperature alloys.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Expertise in high-temperature alloy systems commonly used in aerospace and defense, such as Ni-based superalloys, refractory alloys, and high entropy alloys
  • Profound knowledge of physical metallurgy and structure-processing-property relationships in aerospace alloys
  • Proven track record in executing multi-disciplinary projects and delivering timely results to customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • U.S. Person status required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field and at least 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with other aerospace material systems, including light alloys, high-temperature ceramics, or ceramic matrix composites
  • Familiarity with the high-temperature alloy supply chain environment
  • Strong background in writing and reviewing white papers and proposals
  • Track record of publications or intellectual property in high-temperature materials
  • Experience in utilizing data science tools for new material discovery
