**What youll do:**

The primary purpose of this position is to provide program level leadership for Microgrid Control Systems engineering, design, implementation, and negotiation consultation. Microgrid Control Systems include control of Utility, Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Diesel/Natural gas generators using Automation Controllers, HMIs, Multi-function Protection Relays, and Data Concentrators from all major OEMs as well as Eatons own Power Xpert microgrid control (PXMC) solutions. A stand-out candidate is an experienced controls program manager with technical expertise in the rapidly evolving microgrid and distributed generation space. This role is responsible for functionally leading team of Microgrid engineers located in different regions across the U.S & support strategic initiatives to grow Microgrid business. This role will be a key interface with customers, Energy Transition sales force, application engineers, Negotiations/Proposals engineers, and Microgrid Product Line.

In this function, you will:

+ Provide front line support for engineering on technical questions, sales and negotiation questions, project management matters, and commercial issues.

+ Review customers specifications and internal specifications for project implementation guidance.

+ Review engineering design drawings and bill of materials.

+ Review submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and collaborate on go forward plans.

+ Provide guidance to Microgrid engineers to create and deploy software for Automation Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for Microgrid applications.

+ Review Sequence of Operation (SOO) and test procedures.

+ Provide remote or in person support for factory testing, field start-ups, as well as Provide technical support to the negotiations/proposals team.

+ Serve as technical point of contact and work with Product engineering, Marketing, and Eatons control platforms team to advance microgrid control product requirements.

+ Actively encourage innovation and ensure pursuing modern techniques and technologies to improve microgrid control product and overall microgrid solution.

+ Collaborate with Sales and Product group to grow our Microgrid and DER integration business.

Position criteria for this role include:

Knowledge and understanding of best engineering practices for design of automation systems, power management systems, human-machine interface software, PLC programming, etc.

Solid experience and background on control design and automation and developing standard control and automation codes according to IEC standard for structured text.

Demonstrated experience in hardware, software, and controls development for DERs and microgrids.

Experience and solid understanding of microgrids, renewable energy integration, and battery energy storage systems & microgrid controls, energy management systems, and electrical SCADA applications.

Working knowledge of utility industry communications protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC

Exceptional ability to lead, collaborate, openly communicate, influence others, present and negotiate effectively across disciplines and stakeholders (marketing, engineering, customer support, etc.)

Available for travel & mobility 25% of time

**Qualifications:**

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

+ Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 10 years of experience in power distribution controls applications.

+ Must maintain an active and valid drivers license

Preferred qualifications:

+ Experience with Microgrid controls.

+ Experience with Distributed Energy Resources (DER) such as PV, BESS, and Generators.

+ Knowledge of Power Monitoring and Control Systems and associated protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC

+ Knowledge/Experience with CODESYS Programming.

+ Experience with generator/multi-source paralleling controls.

+ Experience with multi-function protection relays-based controls.

+ Understanding of software requirements development and analysis.

+ Knowledge of programming tools such as Python, SQL, C++, C#, or equivalent is a plus.

+ PE License.
