Job Summary

As a key member of the NRG Energy team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation and maintenance of the Walnut Creek Energy Park. This includes managing all operations functions, maintenance, and planning work to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the power plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations and maintenance activities, including scheduling with energy traders, outage requests, and unit status.
  • Evaluate production output, efficiency, and related variables to optimize operation practices and procedures.
  • Develop and monitor a comprehensive operations and maintenance budget aligned with the objectives of the owners.
  • Participate in corporate safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance and excellence.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports on maintenance activities, cost allocation, system, and equipment reliability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in training or experience, plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in power plant operations or maintenance.
  • Proven experience with start-up, operations, and maintenance of gas turbines, generators, electronic controls, and monitoring devices.
  • Strong managerial and supervisory experience, with the ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, and apply moderate force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Additional Knowledge and Skills

Extensive knowledge of gas technologies, with advanced degree in engineering. Familiarity with EH&S rules, regulations, and procedures. Experience with environmental control and capital project management.

Working Conditions

This role requires occasional visits to the station or outside areas, exposing you to rotating equipment, high/low ambient temperatures, high humidity, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise levels, and elevations up to 400 feet.
