Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Plant Operations Manager to join our team at NRG Energy. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of our energy plant, ensuring the safe and efficient production of electricity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the energy plant, including scheduling, outage management, and unit status monitoring.
  • Evaluate production output, efficiency, and related variables to optimize operations and improve overall effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Manage and monitor maintenance budgets to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Participate in corporate safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports on maintenance activities, cost allocation, and system reliability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in a relevant field, plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in power plant operations or maintenance.
  • Proven experience with start-up, operations, and maintenance of gas turbines, generators, electronic controls, and monitoring devices.
  • Strong managerial and supervisory skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional bending, twisting, and lifting of moderate weights.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of gas technologies and environmental control systems.
  • Experience with capital project management and budgeting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
