Description

Primary Focus:

The Emergency Medical Services Supervisor oversees the EMS providers and ambulance drivers employed by Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center (the district).

  • Work with the emergency department and Medical Program Director of Lincoln County to provide emergency services, treatment, and transport for this EMS district.
  • Reports any and all concerns involving medical decisions or any potential adverse events directly to the Lincoln County EMS Medical Program Director.
  • Participates and attends the scheduled East Regional County Council Meetings whenever possible.
  • Maintains working knowledge of federal, state, and local protocols regarding EMS care and procedures.
  • Is responsible for scheduling EMS providers and drivers to provide 911 EMS service twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days a year.
  • Coordinates interfacility transports at the request of the district, and will make the decision as to whether there is crew and/or ambulance availability to do so.
  • Ensures EMS run reports are submitted to WEMSIS (within a 72-hour period barring any extenuating circumstances) and the billing office in a timely manner.
  • Develops new and reviews existing policy and procedures related to the department.
  • Acts as liaison for emergency medical services with local, county, state, and community organizations.
  • Provides sufficient opportunity for new and existing emergency personnel to receive the training required to remain certified in WA State.
  • Recruits and coordinates training for EMS providers and drivers.
  • Maintains EMS vehicles, supplies, and equipment as required by manufacturer(s), Washington State RCW, and WAC.
  • Interviews, hires (per policy), supervises, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates (per policy) staff to ensure the provision of emergency medical services.
  • Provides EMS orientation for new staff in the department.
  • Develops and maintains schedule for EMS providers and drivers to ensure EMS service is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days a year.
  • Trains staff to respond to calls in a quick, safe, and emotionally stable manner.
  • Holds staff meetings to provide necessary training, updates, and discuss concerns.
  • Promotes and facilitates interactive problem solving with staff.
  • Investigates employee incidents accurately and promptly.
Requirements

Required Education and Certification:
  • Current EMS license in the state of Washington
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross
  • Participation in OTEP or CME method of training to meet certification/recertification requirements set forth by Washington State Department of Health
  • Completes organizational mandated training on time
Salary Description

$24 to $32 per hour DOE
