We are seeking an Employment Specialist to support the Work Teams Program. Reporting to the Adult Employment Services Manager, this role will support Laradon's mission by assisting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) in obtaining and seeking opportunities for volunteer and paid work experiences consistent with their vocational goals. The Employment Specialist will assist and provide training in and out of the Laradon Career Center, working to help develop job seeking skills, communication skills, social skills, self-advocacy, and helping the participants achieve their goals for individual job placement. This includes developing strong relationships with participants, their families, and community employers.

No day is ever alike but you can generally look forward to the following responsibilities:

  • Help develop and implement curricula on employment concepts, philosophies and skills.
  • Provide supervision and actively engage participants on campus and in community while providing positive reinforcement.
  • Provide training in emotional maturation, socialization, communication, education, vocational and community skills.
  • Develop and implement vocational activities per ISSPs.
  • Develop, schedule and facilitate opportunities in the community to be included in work exposure and experience, volunteer opportunities within the community social activities.
  • Complete and maintain paperwork per Lardon's policy and procedures.
  • Prevention and management of crisis to provide a safe environment.
  • Build natural supports and community connections.
  • Maintain effective communication.
  • Implement protocols.
  • Drive participants as necessary for program needs
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • As Laradon is a small employer and employees work in a collaborative, team environment, employee must be physically present in the office to perform the different job functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
