Job Description

Under the watch of our Appointment and Referral Supervisor, the Referral Coordinator will be the bridge between NEON, hospitals, and various consultants. It's crucial that all necessary paperwork is completed promptly. From receiving referrals to managing scheduling across all NEON locations, this role plays a key part. Your tasks will involve using NextGen EHR, obtaining approval for HMO referrals when necessary, and sending out referrals to hospitals or consultants' offices. Additionally, you'll be responsible for notifying patients about any special instructions and handling forms from outside agencies by sending them for scanning.

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in referrals, medical, or health insurance is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology is required.
  • Typing speed of 35 wpm and proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and internal database management is necessary.
  • Experience with NextGen practice management software is a plus.
  • Understanding of commercial and government-funded health care programs.
Technical Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make independent, sound judgments.
  • Display tact and diplomacy, working cooperatively with different teams.
  • Show maturity and flexibility when interacting with diverse patient groups and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in basic PC functions.
