Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. Position Description: This position is responsible for the facilitation of the organ donation process through the identification and evaluation of each potential donor to ensure optimal outcomes for the donor families and recipients. Essential Functions Assesses and determines potential donors to maximize donation opportunities. Provides onsite response to all potential organ donor referrals within the specified timeframe. Collects and organizes donor information from hospital documentation and clinical staff. Compiles any past medical and/or social history. Evaluates donor status and communicates results to the Administrators on call. Provides onsite follow up for referrals as needed. Records accurate and timely information to maintain thorough donor records. Initiates and maintains real time case documentation through Lifebanc electronic medical record. Assist with conducting supply inventory at Lifebanc and the rotation of stock to ensure usage of supplies within expiration dates. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key professional contacts including front line staff, physicians, medical examiners, and county coroners to best facilitate organ and tissue donation. Maintains cooperative collaboration with hospital staff and engages opportunities to broaden and strengthen support throughout hospital staff. Participates with various departments for educational offerings at partner hospitals and community events as needed. Provides process compliance and development support to facilitate organ and tissue donation. Participates as an active member of a department and organization to support Lifebanc's mission, vision, and values. The position schedule will consist of 3- 12 hour shifts per week totaling 36 hours. Rotating shift: One week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7pm-7am and the following week Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 7pm-7am Holidays are included if they fall on the scheduled weekend shift. Qualifications: Associates Degree and/or previous work experience in medical related field or medical certification. Emergency Medical Technician Certificate preferred. A minimum of two years in clinical health care related field. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including medical staff, hospital personnel and donor families. Skill in dealing with diverse issues where many problems exist simultaneously and often compete for immediate attention. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, current auto insurance and a safe driving record. Must have the ability to travel locally.
