GRANT FUNDED - LIMITED TERM POSITION (THROUGH JUNE 30, 2026)

SHIFT: Day/evening/weekend hours | Flexible based upon the needs of the College

LOCATION: Lakeshore Technical College - Cleveland, Wisconsin

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide instructional assistance to students studying in the Business Management program and courses. Use technology to provide instructional support for in-person, online, and virtual communications. Work with program faculty and staff to coordinate and conduct student outreach and supplemental instructional support. Facilitate individual and small group learning activities. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):

(75%) Instructional Assistance
  • Provide instructional assistance and content reinforcement through individual and small group tutoring in the Business Management program.
  • Conduct regular virtual and in-person meetings with students to update student progress and understand student needs.
  • Promote a learning atmosphere by encouraging effective work habits with students, coaching, and correcting assignments, and serving as a resource person for students.
  • Serve as bridge between faculty and student.
  • Assist with student assessment.
  • Provide basic support and assistance to students in accessing computer programs and the learning management system.
  • Provide informational feedback regarding study guides, learning projects, simulated activities, and validate student performance.
  • Distribute appropriate instructional materials.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and program counselor to ensure student success and program success.
  • Maintain an "everybody can succeed" philosophy, and advocate for student needs.
(25%) Program Support
  • Maintain communication between students and College staff.
  • Assist in maintaining Pacing Guides for students.
  • Use tracking tools to determine student progress within courses. Communicate progress to Instructor and Program Counselor, as needed.
  • Contact students regarding progress. Encourage urgency of completion and staying on track with intended timeline to reach goals.
  • Assist in setting instructional schedules.
  • Schedule students with faculty outside of designated student contact hours.
  • Provide information to prospective and returning students related to the program requirements, lab schedule, and class offerings.
  • Be fluent with and advocate for the Competency-Based Education model of instruction.
  • Provide information to potential students to initiate participation in program orientation. Refer students to appropriate Student Services staff and/or support agencies. Participate in retention and recruitment activities.
  • Transfer referral needs to Instructor and/or to appropriate College staff for students requiring additional services.
  • Participate as a member of the team by attending meetings, training activities, and professional development activities.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and mechanisms to ensure integrity and security of academic records.
  • Promote a positive image of the College both internally and externally.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree or equivalent in a related discipline required.
  • Two to three years of relevant occupational experience required.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
  • None
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to navigate through Windows; access college network system; understand database concepts; and download and manage various applications and files.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and be able to support any software or hardware that is used by the College.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of WTCS and Lakeshore's mission, vision, and strategic direction.
  • Ability to master software such as: Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Maintain functional knowledge of administrative software system (PeopleSoft).
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral.
  • Use discretion, maintain positivity, and confidentiality.
