Standard Hourly Rate Supervisory/Special Skills Hourly Rate(can be both, depending on shift-most are standard; student supervisors and those working late/overnight get the supervisory/special skills rate)Description of the Position:
(Purpose of the Position): Students hired as Public Safety Dispatchers play a critical role for St. Olaf College. They are a vital link between members of the campus community needing assistance and the services and response provided by Public Safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): 1. Answer the Public Safety emergency number, gather important information and dispatch officers; 2. Report emergencies to the Northfield Police, Fire or Rescue Departments as requested; 3. Dispatch on-campus Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) to medical calls; 4. Answering calls for Safe Ride & Safe Walk and dispatch as appropriate; 5. Contacting college facilities personnel as requested; 6. Entering telephone calls received and important information into the records management system; 7. Providing accurate information to callers
Qualifications:
1. Must be a currently enrolled student at St. Olaf College; 2. Effective verbal communication skills; 3. Good organizational skills and detail oriented; 4. Ability to work with minimal supervision; 5. Must be dependable and responsible; 6. Ability to work effectively during scheduled hours; 7. Ability to handle and safeguard confidential information.
