  • Review eviction requests for tenants, ensuring sufficient documentation for Non-Payment or Nuisance cases.
  • Consult Housing Retention Plans, Rental Database, and staff to make informed decisions on eviction cases.
  • Litigate Unlawful Detainers, draft notices, complaints, and pleadings, engage in discovery, handle motions, and trial litigation.
  • Provide legal counsel in lawsuits involving THC, maintain legal files, and track lawsuit statistics.
  • Research and write memos on laws relevant to THC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Supervise legal interns and participate in necessary meetings.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.
  • Minimum 2 years of landlord-tenant law experience.
  • Strong knowledge of San Francisco landlord-tenant law and contract law.
  • Familiarity with San Francisco Superior Court procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions.
  • Capacity to apply laws and make independent decisions.
  • Analytical, critical, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Conflict resolution and customer service experience.
  • Proactive with strong initiative and goal-oriented approach.
  • Manage cases and projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Experience with diverse, low-income populations preferred.
  • Non-profit or public sector experience preferred.
