Summary of the Medical Records Clerk Position:


The role of the Medical Records Clerk involves the management of health records, organizing and maintaining files related to diagnoses, treatments, admissions, and discharges.


Key Responsibilities of the Medical Records Clerk:

  • Retrieve medical charts as requested by healthcare staff or clinics.
  • File all currently used medical records daily and maintain active and inactive records securely.
  • Ensure charts are signed by the Physician and verify completeness.
  • Release information under the guidance of the Medical Records Supervisor, Medical Director, or Health Services Administrator.
  • Handle phone calls, take messages, and perform administrative tasks like typing letters, reports, and memorandums.
  • Maintain appointment schedules and office supplies.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
