In instances where the LMRT is not engaged in imaging duties, responsibilities will extend to those of a Medical Assistant.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
Mandatory:
• Completion of high school or equivalent
• Graduation from a recognized Radiologic Technology program that qualifies for Texas certification as a Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT)
Desirable:
• A minimum of three years of relevant patient care experience as a Medical Assistant, LMRT, or in a related imaging technologist role
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Mandatory:
• Certification as a Limited Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) in Chest, Extremities, Skull, and Spine, or a Temporary Limited Certificate with a commitment to obtain full certification within six months of employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA)
WORKING HOURS
This position requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, offering comprehensive benefits and proportional accruals. The schedule is matrix-based, incorporating rotating shifts that include days, evenings, and weekends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to imaging and safety protocols, executing all imaging procedures in line with approved guidelines. Ensure the proper use of radiation protection gear for patients and immobilization during diagnostic processes.
- Adjust technical parameters to achieve optimal imaging outcomes while recognizing and addressing any complications or limitations.
- Employ technical expertise to conduct procedures accurately and promptly, in accordance with age-specific requirements.
- Document and report any "near misses" and input errors into the designated system to enhance processes and identify trends. Actively participate in the development of corrective actions and improvement initiatives, contributing to departmental and hospital quality and safety objectives.
- Verify that all imaging equipment has undergone necessary quality control checks and is in safe working condition prior to use. Report any equipment malfunctions to supervisory personnel and coordinate with service support as needed.
- Record charges at the time of service delivery, ensuring accuracy in the billing process for the procedures performed.
- Confirm patient charts for valid orders, scheduled procedure details, physician notes, and any relevant comments. Update patient information in the Electronic Medical Record system following established protocols.
- Maintain compliance with the LMRT scope of practice, ensuring that only authorized procedures are performed.
- Assist in managing patient flow within the outpatient clinic environment.
- Execute technical and supportive patient care tasks, integrating the patient's care plan and adhering to approved policies and procedures.
