They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the organizations financial operations. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting the financial planning and budgeting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit or affordable housing accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage cash flow and forecasting, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monitor budgetary performance.
- Provide financial analysis and support for grant applications and reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Supervise and provide guidance to accounting staff.
- Collaborate with program managers to ensure financial accountability and transparency in all projects.
- Support the Executive Director and Board of Directors with financial reporting and strategic planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting, including fund accounting, compliance, and reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience with grant management and reporting is a plus.
