Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to join our team at DFAS. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring that internal controls are in place and operational, and that financial management systems are designed, developed, and supported to efficiently and effectively manage government resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial management systems and processes to ensure compliance with government regulations and policies
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide technical guidance on financial management principles and automated systems processing
  • Plan and implement process improvements relative to large-scale accounting and financial operations, systems, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure that financial management systems are designed, developed, and supported to meet the needs of the organization
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and develop Mission Element Needs Statements, Functional Descriptions, Economic Analyses, System Decision Papers, milestones, and conversion plans
Requirements:
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service
  • Experience in performing in-depth financial systems analysis and assisting in the design, development, and support of automated financial systems
  • Experience in providing technical guidance on financial management principles as they relate to automated systems processing and finance operations
  • Experience in planning and implementing process improvements relative to large-scale accounting and financial operations, systems, policies, and procedures
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to finance, accounting, or business administration
Additional Information:
  • This position requires a Level 2 Certification under the DoD Financial Management (FM) Certification Program
  • The position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months
  • Moving expenses will be paid
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination
