ROLE SUMMARY: Ensure the monthly close accounting cycle is completed accurately and timely. Prepare and review financial statements across multiple accounting systems. Supervise the accounts payable and accounting team while partnering with Property Management Controller to promote accurate recording of company transactions and financial reporting packets sent to owners/ leadership. Monitor and provide internal controls for compliance of policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervised A/P and Accounting team on accounting functions of multifamily and commercial managed portfolio.
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, fixed asset records, general and entity accounting.
  • Oversee all aspects of the monthly and annual accounting close out activities.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, monitor, and ensure stale reconciling items are cleared on multifamily and commercial managed portfolio.
  • Review and oversee management fee calculations and billing for real estate services fees, reimbursements, and billbacks.
  • Montior cash flows, distributions, and contribution request.
  • Ensures all critical payments, utilities, debt servicing, insurance and tax payments are made timely.
  • Responsible for monitoring certificates of insurance on property and management company vendors.
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements for properties; along with financial review and sending packages to Ownership.
  • Create ad-hoc financial reporting with analytics to drive efficiencies and provide strong internal controls.
  • Provide annual CAM reconciliations for commercial managed properties.
  • Participate in annual budgeting process and verify input into accounting systems.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies, auditors, and owner/ investors to provide necessary documentation upon request.
  • Examine, document, and analyze existing policies and procedures, researching alternative opportunities, developing more effective and efficient processes. Act as a positive change agent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from a 4-year college/university or equivalent
  • +5 years related real estate, property management, corporate, accounting experience
  • Familiarity with GAAP, application of said accounting principles and journal entries
  • Above average Microsoft Excel or database/warehouse management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; drives clear direction
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of team dynamic
  • Strong interpersonal skills; apply good judgement in applying timely decisions
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player
  • Exposure to variety of software (i.e., Microsoft Office/Teams, AppFolio, Jonas, RealPage, Great Plains, TM1, Blackline, DocuSign, Adobe, Egnyte, JDE, NetSuite, etc)
