PURPOSE:

The Director of Labor Relations plays a crucial role in supporting all aspects of labor relations for the Company's wholesale unionized operations nationwide. This includes labor contract negotiations, employee benefits, and dispute resolution among others, in collaboration with a team of labor relations and associate relations professionals.

  • Act as a lead negotiator for various labor negotiations, ensuring fair agreements for all parties involved.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements, fostering a harmonious work environment.
  • Coordinate legal counsel communication to management on contract negotiations, employee benefits, and dispute resolution.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Serve as an expert on labor contracts, advising on labor law matters and multiemployer benefit plans.
  • Foster positive relationships between negotiating parties, advocating for a constructive management/union environment.
  • Manage grievance procedures and participate in labor relations contract negotiations.
  • Stay informed on HR laws, collective bargaining, and labor regulations.
  • Undertake domestic travel to various facilities across the United States.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Law degree preferred, SHRM-SCP certification a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in labor relations, union negotiations, or dispute resolution.
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment, preferably in distribution or warehouse settings.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills desirable.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Team player with interpersonal strengths and ability to engage with senior leaders.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with excellent time management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of labor laws and regulations.

PHYSICAL ENVIORNMENT/ DEMANDS:

  • Fully remote role with significant domestic travel.
  • Work primarily in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • May be exposed to varying temperatures in different operational settings.
  • Regular desk work involving the use of office equipment.
  • Stooping, bending, and reaching may be part of job duties.
