About the Role

The YMCA of Greater Providence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and repair of our facilities and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall direction and supervision to the facilities and maintenance team, including vendor management and external property management.
  • Develop and implement facilities and maintenance standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Recommend and prioritize projects necessary to maintain and improve our buildings, and oversee contractors selected to carry out projects.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, and coordinate contracted services as needed.
  • Establish and carry out a capital improvement plan and preventative maintenance program for the physical plant, tools, and equipment.
  • Supervise maintenance of buildings and grounds, including landscaping, parking lots, and walkways.
  • Ensure occupational safety policies are enforced and facility Risk Management controls are in place and supported by proactive training programs.
  • Maintain a system of grounds and facilities supplies and assets inventory and accounting.
  • Purchase supplies and equipment within the YMCA purchasing guidelines.
  • Supervise the work of the Branch Maintenance tech Staff and the vendor(s) providing property maintenance services.
  • Prepare plans, material lists, and estimates for YMCA renovation projects and assist with the budgeting process.
  • Prepare the annual capital budget for the Association and provide operation and maintenance guidance to the branch maintenance staff and branch leadership team.
  • Maintain and enforce all applicable OSHA and Environmental Quality programs and oversee required reporting.
  • Manage preferred vendor/contractor lists, including emergency and inclement weather response contacts.
  • Work with outside agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and associated building inspections and permitting.
  • Coordinate all branch-related work orders with the property management vendor in coordination with the branch Executive Directors.
  • Regularly visit branches and meet with the branch leadership team to review and identify issues of concern and plan resolution.
  • Obtain bids/proposals for work to be performed for large-scale projects and work with the Director of Administration to choose vendors as needed.
  • Be on call for off-hour emergencies as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Five years of related experience, including two years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of all phases of physical plant operation, maintenance, and repair, planning, scheduling, management, and administration of the plant.
  • Technical knowledge and skills in working with air-conditioning and heating systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with state and local safety, fire, construction, and public access regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and express oneself clearly and concisely in presenting ideas and concepts.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows environment.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
