Role Overview:

The Solar Technician is responsible for maintaining and servicing utility-scale solar and battery storage facilities. The ideal candidate must be highly skilled in working on electrical and mechanical components related to Renewable Energy assets.


Responsibilities as a Solar Technician:

  • Follow Health and Safety policies to uphold a zero-incident workplace
  • Complete safety documentation before each job, including pre-job safety meetings and electrical work permits
  • Conduct technical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities
  • Implement energization/de-energization procedures
  • Follow Lockout Tagout (LOTO) plans and procedures
  • Interpret schematics and blueprints
  • Perform quality assurance checklists and inspections to identify corrective actions
  • Adhere to specific maintenance requirements and industry best practices
  • Provide daily digital reporting of work performed
  • Work independently and in a team-based environment
  • Participate in on-call weekend services
  • Identify project issues and provide feedback for ongoing development
  • Maintain site cleanliness and safety
  • Ensure organized spare parts inventory and optimal device performance on-site
  • Collaborate with the Renewable Operations Center for site outage and performance analysis
  • Collaborate with the site manager/lead for preventive maintenance tasks
  • Available for weekend on-call work

Key Requirements:

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Digital literacy and proficiency with various software
  • Electrical and mechanical expertise
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Team collaboration skills and customer service orientation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures
  • Support for renewable energy initiatives
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in electrical or mechanical fields is an asset
  • Relevant certifications and licenses are advantageous
  • Ability to lift heavy weights, work at heights, and interpret color codes
