Duties

You will provide technical leadership and oversight of Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) and Seabasing and Expeditionary Maneuver (EXMAN) engineering efforts.

You will provide engineering efforts associated with requirements definition, design, development, integration, analysis, demonstration, test and evaluation, deployment and maintenance of supported systems.

You will successfully provide Mechanical Engineering support and input to ACV and Seabasing and EXMAN project tasking.

You will mentor and coach a diverse team of individuals in the execution of engineering activities using Systems Engineering standards, best practices, and DOD acquisition policies as it applies to full life cycle of military expeditionary systems.

You will use 3D-modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and other engineering fundamentals to advise science and technology related projects within the Division.

You will use your knowledge of ACV and Seabasing and EXMAN enhancements to ensure effective technology transition into production ensuring applicable patents are processed.

You will apply Mechanical Engineering expertise in pursuit of Division, Department, and Command strategic objectives including Division initiatives for continual process improvement.

You will utilize knowledge of NAVSEA Engineering and Technical Authority Policy as it relates to Engineering Agent Responsibility Document assignments.

You will create, author, and review programmatic and technical documents (e.g. plans, reports, analyses, policy) and develop written correspondence, proposals, action plans, briefs, point papers, and contracts in a succinct, organized manner.

You will communicate authoritatively orally and in writing at all levels of the organization to include flag officer and Senior Executive Service level informing and advising on execution status.

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.

To be acceptable, the program must:
(1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Are you applying for a promotion? For GS positions, to be considered for promotion, you must provide SF-50(s) that shows that you held the next lower GS grade for at least one year.

SF-50s that have an effective date within the past year (e.g., General Adjustment SF-50 from this year or Within Rate/Grade Increases (WRI/WGI) SF-50 within a year) do not clearly show that you meet the one-year time-in-grade requirement.

That means if you submit an SF-50 dated within the last year, you must submit another SF-50 dated more than one year ago to clearly demonstrate you meet the time-in-grade requirements.

The statement of service must provide the branch of service, rate/rank, all dates of service, the expected date of discharge and anticipated character of service (Honorable, General, etc.).Documents submitted as part of the application package, to include supplemental documents, may be shared beyond the Human Resources Office.

Some supplemental documents contain personal information such as SSN and DOB and some documents such as military orders and marriage certificates may contain personal information for someone other than you.

You may sanitize the documents to remove said personal information before you submit your application. You must provide an un-sanitized version of the documents if you are selected.

If you are relying on your education to meet qualification requirements:
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
