Ports have numerous electrical demands, including Ship to Shore Cranes, Stacking Cranes, Reefer sockets, Shore Power, electric vehicles, and facilities.
Our team in Panama designs and constructs electrical and automation systems to deliver reliable and sustainable power solutions, enabling efficient container handling.
Our scope encompasses Medium Voltage Substations, SCADA systems, Terminal Lighting, Reefer racks, and various electrical systems, including Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure and Grid Connection substations.
Our primary products are prefabricated substations, manufactured in our facilities, which undergo comprehensive testing and commissioning prior to delivery.
Project locations span globally, including regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Latin America, with an average project duration of 24 months.
Safety and integrity are integral to our operations throughout the project lifecycle.Role Responsibilities:
To enhance our team, we are seeking a Project Engineer to assume comprehensive responsibility for the technical aspects of our projects.
Design:
Collaborating with the design team, the Project Engineer will develop the electrical infrastructure, selecting equipment from Medium Voltage, Transformers, Low Voltage, UPS, DC, SCADA Systems, and Fiber Optic.
The Project Engineer will manage interactions with various disciplines, including:Assembly Location:
Provide specifications for all internal equipment, ensuring that the structural design of prefabricated substations accommodates all components.
Civil Engineering:
Supply accurate information to civil contractors regarding ABB equipment, including the number of conduits and substations, ensuring compatibility with electrical equipment.
SCADA Team:
Facilitate the exchange of documentation between ABB factories and the SCADA team to ensure proper installation of signals and communication interfaces.
Engineering Department:
Lead the engineering team in preparing basic and detailed engineering, which includes:
- Cable Calculations for MV and LV
- Load flow and short circuit analyses
- Protection studies
- Grounding and lightning protection assessments
- As-built documentation
- Interface drawings
- Support during commissioning
- Method statement development
Finance Department:
Oversee cost control and ensure timely procurement in bulk.
Planning:
Ensure timely completion of engineering tasks to align with project schedules.
Manufacturing:
The Project Engineer will select equipment based on vendor lists from ABB and their technical proposals, comparing them against contract specifications, lead times, and costs.
Upon receiving factory drawings and conducting reviews, documentation will be submitted for customer approval, with follow-ups to factories before FAT.
The Project Engineer will participate in FATs for equipment, either virtually or in person.Site Execution:
Once equipment is produced and passes FAT, it will be transported to the site.
The Project Engineer will coordinate the reception of equipment, liaising with customers for installation and commissioning per IEC standards and contractual obligations.
The Project Engineer will lead the entire process until final acceptance and handover to the terminals, establishing method statements and testing criteria.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Prior experience in the electrical sector.
- Proficiency in electrical designs for low and medium voltage.
- Minimum of 3 years in similar roles within project environments.
- Willingness to travel.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
